XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF DYNAMIC GAMES E-LETTER, issue No. 6, 5 June 1992 Edited by Raimo P. Hamalainen and Harri Ehtamo Systems Analysis Laboratory, Helsinki University of Technology ISDG@FINHUT.BITNET or ISDG@FINHUT .HUT.FI XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Dear Dynamic Game Theorist, This is the sixth issue of the Society’s electronic newsletter. The basic minimum work principle in editing this e-letter is that the READERS send important notes and information about symposia, conferences and workshops of dynamic games, as well as abstracts of Ph.D. theses, papers and books, which they want to be included in the newsletter. The format is described below. We hope that no retyping will be needed so please follow the instructions and sample shown below carefully. The news should be concise to keep the newsletter readable. Requests for more complete information about any news item should be directed to its contributor. Except for a shoxt summer school announcement at the end of the issue, the only item appearing below is the final program of the Fifth International Symposium on Dynamic Games and Applications, to be held in Conches-Geneva, Switzerland, July 13, and in Grimentz, Switzerland, July 15-17. Looking forward to receiving your news contributions. Happy Summer Time Raimo P. Hamalainen and Harri Ehtamo P.S. The two e-mail addresses given above are in principle identical. Depending on your network one or both of them should work. If you are in a BITNET node you only need ISDG at FINHUT. In any case the safest and easiest way is to use the reply command in your e-mail system. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Contributed by the Editors June 5 MODEL FOR NEWS SUBMISSIONS Maximum line length is 72 characters. Place the text between two lines of x:ses. The first line should state "Contributed by" and followed by the contributor’s name, in brackets and the date. Then there should be a title line and the text. This info block should be sent to ISDG at FINHUT. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Contributed by Tamer Basar May 27 to Members of the International Society of Dynamic Games Fifth International Symposium on Dynamic Games and Applications In this issue of the electronic newsletter of ISDG, you will find the complete program of our Fifth bi-annual Symposium, to be held in Grimentz, Switzerland, between the dates of July 15 and 17, 1992. This Symposium will be preceded by a full-day of tutorials in Conches-Geneva, on July 13, 1992. Alain Haurie, in collaboration with his Program Committee, has put together a very exciting Technical Program, which I am sure you all will find rewarding and stimulating. I personally invite you to participate in this Symposium, and look forward to seeing you there. Tamer Basar, ISDG President XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Contributed by Alain Haurie June 2 Fifth International Symposium on Dynamic Games and Applications Conches, July 13 - Grimentz, July 15-17 Final Program Tutorials and Symposium Tutorial Sessions: July 13, 1992 International Academy of the Environment 4, chemin de Conches, 1231 Conches-Geneva, Switzerland. Contributed and Invited Sessions: July 15-17, 1992 Hotel a la Marenda, 3961 Grimentz Val d’Anniviers-Valais, Switzerland. Organizer: Departement d’economie commerciale et industrielle, Universite de Geneve. Sponsor: The International Society of Dynamic Games (ISDG). With the participation of IFAC Mathematics of Control Committee, and IEEE Control Systems Society. Local Organizing Committee: Alain Haurie (Conference Chairman), P. Allan, 0. Bahn, A. Din, E. Fragniere, J. Mocellin, A. de Palma, M. Roche, J.P. Vial, Ch. van Delft. Scientific Committee: P. Allan, T. Basar, M. Breton, P. Bernhard, H. SEBhtamo, J. Filar, G. Gambarelli, R. Hamalainen, V. Vial, O.J. Vrieze, G. Zaccour. Acknowledgement: This symposium has been made possible by the financial support of Commission administrative, Faculte SES and Departement COMIN, Universite de Geneve. We are pleased to present this fine program for the 5th-ISDG. As you know the symposium begins in Geneva-Conches and then moves to Grimentz (Valais). The two hotels of the symposium are Hotel Carlton in Geneva and Hotel a la Marenda in Grimentz. In Grimentz all the participants have to register at Hotel a la Marenda. However, since this hotel is too small to accomodate all of us the participants will be lodged in different hotels and pensions all over the village. In Geneva: Hotel Carlton is located in the vicinity of the central station (Gare Cornavin). There is a train and a bus (TPG no. 10) services from the Cointrin airport to the Cornavin station. To get a bus ticket you need to have change (around 2 sfr) in order to use the automatic ticketing machine. From Hotel Carlton to Conches the easiest way is to take the TPG bus no. 8 at Cornavin and get off at Conches. Count 25 minutes for this bus ride. In Conches find the chemin de Conches to the right when coming from Geneva at the entrance of the village (you will have to walk back 100 meters from the bus stop). The International Academy of the Environment is located at no. 4, in a park. The pavillon where the tutorial session are held is the one~storey modern style building located in the back of the visitors parking area. There is additional parking available for the Academy visitors a little farther on Chemin de Conches. A free lunch buffet will be served in the foyer to the participants. In the evening a cocktail is offered to the participants by the City of Geneva. For diner we plan to organize a typical diner in a charming restaurant (will cost around 50 sfr per person). Transfer to Grimentz: The full day of July 14 is devoted to the travel from Geneva to Grimentz: If you travel by car you have to reach first the city of Sierre in the Rhone valley. Soon after the city of Sierre, to the right starts the mountain road going to Zinal and Grimentz. This is a winding road, please be alert. On your way to Sierre we recommend that you leave the autoroute for a while, after Lausanne, to have a view of the Lavaux vineyards. Near the village of Chexbres the corniche road offers wonderful panoramas. After Vevey and Montreux you may also visit chateau de Chillon, a very romantic place, indeed. Then go back on the autoroute until Sierre. If you travel by train you can get, at Cornavin station, a ticket for Grimentz combining train to Sierre and postal bus from Sierre to Grimentz. The train ticket also allows you to take, with a supplement, a boat between Geneva and Montreux (3 hour trip). If the weather is OK this may be extremely pleasant. In any case try to be in Grimentz by 6:30 p.m. (18:30) in order to participate in the get-acquainted cocktail. In the following are some indications on the train and bus schedules (City&itineraryléitinerary2): dept. Geneva&12:48614:48 arr. Sierre&14:54616:54 dept. Sierre&15:20617:27 arr. Grimentz&16:19818:21 There is a boat leaving Geneva at 9:15 a.m, reaching Montreux at 1:45 p-m. (13:45). You can then catch the train of itinerary 2 which leaves the Montreux station at 3:53 p.m. (15:53). Of course there is some distance between the port and the station. Hotel a la Marenda is centrally located in Grimentz, near the bus stop. Everybody has to register in this hotel.
