XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF DYNAMIC GAMES E-LETTER, issue No. 10, 30 September 1993 Edited by Raimo P. Hamalainen and Harri Ehtamo Systems Analysis Laboratory, Helsinki University of Technology ISDG@FINHUT.BITNET or ISDG@FINHUT.HUT.FI XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Dear Dynamic Game Theorist, This is the tenth issue of the Society’s electronic newsletter. The basic minimum work principle in editing this e-letter is that the READERS send important notes and information about symposia, conferences and workshops of dynamic games, as well as abstracts of Ph.D. theses, papers and books, which they want to be included in the newsletter. The format is described below. We hope that no retyping will be needed so please follow the instructions and sample shown below carefully. The news should be concise to keep the newsletter readable. Requests for more complete information about any news item should be directed to its contributor. We appreciate any comments and suggestions that you may have on this e-letter. Next issue is planned to be sent out in December. Looking forward to receiving your news contributions. Raimo P. Hamalainen and Harri Ehtamo P.S. The two e-mail addresses given above are in principle identical. Depending on your network one or both of them should work. If you are in a BITNET node you only need ISDG at FINHUT. In any case the safest and easiest way is to use the reply command in your e-mail system. Place the text between two lines of x:ses. The first line should state "Contributed by" and followed by the contributor’s name, in brackets and the date. Then there should be a title line and the text. This info block should be sent to ISDG at FINHUT. Breton, G. Zaccour International Program Committee M. Bardi (IT), T. Basar (USA), R.P. Hamalainen (SF), A. Haurie (CH), A.A. Melikyan (R), G.J. Olsder (NL), T.E.S. Raghavan (USA), J. Shinar (IL), T.L. Vineent (USA), A.J. de Zeeuw (NL). The Symposium is the sixth one in a series of meetings dedicated to the area of dynamic games and is the official biannual scientific meeting of the ISDG. The aim of the meeting is to bring together researchers from various disciplines where dynamic game settings are studied, and to report the latest developments both in theory and applications. Location: The conference will take place at Auberge Gray Rocks, St-Jovite, in the Laurentian mountains north of Montreal. Driving distance from Mirabel airport to Gray Rocks is less than one hour, and from Montreal approximatively 1h45. Transportation arrangements will be made for participants. Further information on registration and accomodation fees will be provided later. Topics covered by the Conference include zero-sum dynamic games Pursuit-evasion problems Nonzero-sum dynamic games Incentive strategies Cooperative equilibria Dynamic bargaining models Computational methods Dynamic games in economics Energy and Resource management AI applications to dynamic games Environmental issues Applications in Management Science Evolutionary games in biology Worst case and minimax design Tutorials A preconference day of tutorials on the subject of viscosity solutions will be organized by M. Bardi (It); it will be held on July 11, at Ecole des HEC, Montreal. Plenary Lectures Plenary lectures will be organized on Two-person zero-sum differential games (P. Bernhard, Fr) and on Interplay in Economics/Dynamic games Evolution theory/Dynamic games Management science/Dynamic games Deadlines : January 15, 1994: Titles and three copies of extended abstracts (approximately 500 words). Further guidelines for submission will be given later. March 1, 1994: Notification of acceptance of the paper April 1, 1994: Full paper Papers accepted and received before the deadline will be available at the conference. Selected papers will be published in the Annals of Dynamic Games. Tolstonogov July 18 FORTHCOMING 1993! Numerical Methods and Optimization Software of Controlled Systems by A.I.TYATYUSHKIN (Irkutsk Computing Center, Russian Ac. Sci.) This volume focuses on the numerical methods now used when solving problems of optimal control on linear and nonlinear dynamic systems. In the relating literature the emphasis has been on theoretical topics, while numerical solving problems have not been adequately addressed. In this book, the author has partially filled the gaps involved. Here is the algoritmic presentation of the numerical methods of controlled system optimization and how to instrument them by software as well as of techniques for constructing initial approximations to provide the convergence of iteration processes and the fulfilment of necessary optimality conditions in complicated problems of optimal control, for example, singularly perturbed controlled systems. The proof of the validity of our technique lies in the solving of control problems for electric-power and robotic systems as well as of flight dynamics and spacecraft attitude control problems Some of the results derived by making numerical simulations are given for the purpose of comparing the algorithms here developed with previous ones in regard to the number of iterations and the attainable accuracy based on the test examples and real problems. The algorithms and programs as presented can be used when developing the software to specific classes of applied optimal-control problems. For researchers and engineers concerned with mathematical modelling and optimization and for graduate majoring in the field of optimal control. It contains a sub-archive on game theory. Send a message to: econ-wp@econwpa.wustl.edu subject: get announce with no message body, in order to find out about the archive. One can subscribe to the mailing list of abstracts by sending the message to: econ-wp@econwpa.wustl.edu ubject: subscribe all [your name] one can then choose which paper to retrieve. An alternative way to get access to the archive is by ftp: ftp econwpa.wustl.edu ftp will then prompt you for a login, and you reply anonymous (interpret the word ‘anonymous’ as meaning ‘quest’, since the software does keep a record of your visit). login: anonymous ftp will then prompt for a password. You must reply with your e-mail address. password: your@mail.address.full Papers in game theory can then be found in econ-wp/game/papers There are further several sub-directories according to the mounth.
