The basic minimum work principle in editing this e-letter is that the READERS send important notes and information about symposia, conferences and workshops of dynamic games, as well as abstracts of Ph.D. theses, papers and books, which they want to be included in the newsletter. The format is described below. We hope that no retyping will be needed so please follow the instructions and sample shown below carefully. The news should be concise to keep the newsletter readable. Requests for more complete information about any news item should be directed to its contributor. We appreciate any comments and suggestions that you may have on this e-letter. Looking forward to receiving your news contributions. Raimo P. Hamalainen and Harri Ehtamo P.S.: We ENCOURAGE you now to submit any news items you may have suitable to the electronic Newsletter. So, please send us if you have any! We are ready to deliver it promptly. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Contributed by the Editors Oct 14 MODEL FOR NEWS SUBMISSIONS Maximum line length is 72 characters. Place the text between two lines of x:ses. The first line should state "Contributed by" and followed by the contributor's name, in brackets and the date. Then there should be a title line and the text. The first one was held in 1984 in Haifa, Israel. It was followed by meetings in Williamsburg, USA (1986), Antibes, France (1988), Espoo, Finland (1990), Grimentz, Switzerland (1992), St. Jovite, Canada (1994), Kanagawa, Japan (1996), Maastricht, The Netherlands (1998). This ninth symposium is the first one to be held in Australia. The symposium has been scheduled in the week following IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, in Sydney. Participants will have an opportunity to hear state-of-the-art lectures on a wide range of game-theoretic models and applications. LOCATION All the sessions and the conference dinner will be held at the Stamford Grand Hotel, in Glenelg. Situated on the sea shore, the hotel is unique in its design and reflects a character reminiscent of grand European hotels of the Victorian era. Glenelg is a popular tourist suburb approximately 15 km from downtown Adelaide. Adelaide - capital of South Australia - is a city of over one million people where in the space of a day, you can stretch out on a vast sandy beach, cruise winding roads in lush green hills covered with vineyards, or see some of Australia's rarest native animals in their natural habitat. PROGRAM The three day technical program will consist of plenary sessions and presentations of contributed papers. The topics include, but are not limited to the following: Dynamic & Differential Games AI and game theory Computational methods Cooperative solution Dynamic bargaining models Dynamic games modeling in economics Dynamic games in telecommunication Environment, energy and resource allocation Evolutionary games Games in finance and marketing H-infinity controller design Incentive strategies Nonzero-sum dynamic games Numerical methods for solving dynamic games Pursuit-Evasion problems Robust controller design Stochastic & Sequential games Worst case and minimax design INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM COMMITTEE Chairperson: Andrzej S.
