Hamalainen and Harri Ehtamo Systems Analysis Laboratory, Helsinki University of Technology ISDG@HUT.FI xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Dear Dynamic Game Theorist, This is the twentyseventh issue of the Society's electronic newsletter. The basic minimum work principle in editing this e-letter is that the READERS send important notes and information about symposia, conferences and workshops of dynamic games, as well as abstracts of Ph.D. theses, papers and books, which they want to be included in the newsletter. The format is described below. We hope that no retyping will be needed so please follow the instructions and sample shown below carefully. The news should be concise to keep the newsletter readable. Requests for more complete information about any news item should be directed to its contributor. We appreciate any comments and suggestions that you may have on this e-letter. Looking forward to receiving your news contributions. Raimo P. Basar, A. Haurie and O. Pourtallier Date: August 20-22, 1997 Dear friends of the ISDG: As you may know, there will be an interesting International Symposium on Mathematical Programming in Lausanne, Switzerland, on August 24-29, 1997. You can get all the relevant info about this event on the following URL: http://dmawww.epfl.ch/roso.mosaic/ismp97/. In conjunction with this important event which will include several sessions on game theory, we are organizing a small workshop on Dynamic Games and Applications on August 20-22 that will be held in Sils-Maria (Grisons-Graubunden), in South-Eastern Switzerland. The aim of this small workshop is twofold: +To provide the executive committee of the ISDG an opportunity to meet in order to discuss the business of the Society +To have a two-day interaction among active researchers in the field of dynamic games. The workshop will take place in a very charming mansion - property of the University of Geneva - located in a unique scenic spot in the St-Moritz-Bernina area. This is one of the most beautiful parts of Switzerland and a paradise for hikers, mountainers, bird watchers, windsurfers, mountain-bikers, etc... The university house, which is a venerable old building, can host 26 persons on a room sharing basis. Most of the rooms are spacious and all are very cosy; although there is a limited number of rooms with private bathrooms, there are plenty of washrooms (almost one per room). The cost of the house is 3600 frs for 3 nights. This gives an average of 47 frs per night and per person (including breakfast), which is a real bargain for the region and the season. The rental price will be slightly adjusted depending on the quality of the room (size, view, etc). The village of Sils-Maria, a favorite summer vacation place of F. Nietzsche who once said that this is where "Finland meets Italy", is easily accessible by train from Geneva (6 hour ride) or Zurich (3 hour ride). Close to the house is a very comfortable hotel, the Waldhaus, where we shall have our dinners. We propose an organization of the workshop days that will permit the participants to enjoy the scenery of the region: 7:30-8:30 am Breakfast 8:30-11:30 am Sessions 11:30-5:00 pm Free time 5:00-8:00 pm Sessions 8:00 pm Dinner This meeting will be the occasion for the executive committee to manage the business of the Society. The EC-members are therefore strongly encouraged to register early to ensure their participation. Since there are only 26 rooms at a bargain price and because August is still the peak tourist season, please decide early if you want to participate. We propose the following deadlines: As soon as possible: Indicate your interest in participating in the workshop, with a tentative title of your talk. April 1st: Advance payment of the 3-night stay at the University House (We apologize for this scheme which may look like a fool's day joke, but since we are renting the whole house on behalf of the Society we cannot run any risk of no-shows). If we do not get enough guaranteed participation at that date, we will be forced to cancel the event. June 1st: Receipt of the full paper or extended abstract for preparation of the proceedings volume. All correspondence should be addressed to: Professor Alain Haurie University of Geneva 102 Carl-Vogt, CH-1211, Geneva-4 Switzerland Tel: +41 22 705 8132 Fax: +41 22 705 8124 E-mail: haurie@ibm.unige.ch http://ecolu-info.unige.ch/~haurie xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx End of ISDG E-LETTER issue No. 27, 5 February 1997
