Hamalainen and Harri Ehtamo Systems Analysis Laboratory, Helsinki University of Technology ISDG@HUT.FI xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Dear Dynamic Game Theorist, This is the twentysixth issue of the Society's electronic newsletter. The basic minimum work principle in editing this e-letter is that the READERS send important notes and information about symposia, conferences and workshops of dynamic games, as well as abstracts of Ph.D. theses, papers and books, which they want to be included in the newsletter. The format is described below. We hope that no retyping will be needed so please follow the instructions and sample shown below carefully. The news should be concise to keep the newsletter readable. Requests for more complete information about any news item should be directed to its contributor. We appreciate any comments and suggestions that you may have on this e-letter. Looking forward to receiving your news contributions. Raimo P. Hamalainen and Harri Ehtamo xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Contributed by the Editors Jan 28 MODEL FOR NEWS SUBMISSIONS Maximum line length is 72 characters. Place the text between two lines of x:ses. The first line should state "Contributed by" and followed by the contributor's name, in brackets and the date. Then there should be a title line and the text. This info block should be sent to ISDG at HUT.FI xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Contributed by Tuomas Raivio Jan 28 ISDG in the Web The ISDG home page is located at http://www.hut.fi/HUT/Systems.Analysis/isdg Currently the pages contain a short description of the society, a list of members, and copies of past ISDG News. From now on, the pages are administrated by Tuomas Raivio. The pages will be revised soon; if you have any ideas concerning the pages, please send e-mail to tuomas.raivio@hut.fi xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Contributed by Gustav Feichtinger Jan 9 Sixth Viennese Workshop on Optimal Control, Dynamic Games, Nonlinear Dynamics and Adaptive Systems Vienna, May 21-23, 1997 email: ws_vie97@e119ws1.tuwien.ac.at http://www.math.tuwien.ac.at:1063/OR/ws_vie97.html After five successful workshops on various similar topics the Sixth Viennese Workshop on Optimal Control, Dynamic Games, Nonlinear Dynamics and Adaptive Systems will again bring together researchers interested in the application of nonlinear methods in economics, operations research and management science. Topics of interest are optimal control theory, dynamic programming, differential games, evolutionary games, learning, economic modelling, chaos theory, complex systems and related fields. Due to particular demand also sessions on computational intelligence techniques like Neural Networks, Genetic Algorithms or Cellular Automata will be held. Theoretical contributions to one of these fields which are relevant to problems from economics or OR/MS are especially welcome but also applied modelling will be covered. Due to the lack of sufficient financial support by private and public organizations a registration fee of ATS 1500.- (approx. US$ 150.-) will be charged. In addition to the scientific program an extensive social program will be organized. If you wish to participate in the Workshop please return the attached form to ws_vie97@e119ws1.tuwien.ac.at : ____________________Please return the following form________________ Name: {name} Affiliation: {institution and department} Address: {complete address} Fax: {fax number} Email: {email address} ____________________Please return the following form_________________ In the cases you don't have acces to email please contact: Prof. Gustav Feichtinger, Department of Operations Research and Systems Theory, Vienna University of Technology Argentinierstrasse 8/119 A-1040 Vienna, AUSTRIA Fax: +43-1-5054524 Deadlines: Abstract submission: e x p i r e d Author notification: d o n e Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions concerning the workshop. However, there is a chance for you to discuss and publicise your new results in 1997. The Fourth Conference of the Association of Asian-Pacific Operational Research Societies within IFORS, which takes place in the World Congress Centre, Melbourne, Australia, 30 November - 4 December 1997, will have a SESSION ON DYNAMIC (SEQUENTIAL, DIFFERENTIAL ETC.) GAMES. The APORS'97 audience will comprise mathematicians and OR practitioners from all over the world. The venue and time of this conference are excellent (Melbourne, early summer). If a number of the ISDG members decide to participate in this event, a workshop on dynamic games applications will also be organised. The conference is organised by the Melbourne Chapter of the Australian Society for Operations Research (ASOR) with the support of ASOR's other chapters and the Operations Research Society of New Zealand (ORSNZ). For general information on the conference see the following home page (excellently maintained): http://www.maths.mu.oz.au/~worms/apors/apors.html (the last character is an "ell") To register your interest use: http://traal.cbr.dit.csiro.au:8001/apors.eoi.html or email Jacek.Krawczyk@vuw.ac.nz (also, for more information). Abstract submission deadline is 28 February 1997, but we would like to hear from you earlier. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Contributed by Alexander M.
